The ELA technology standards describes what different skills students should be able to use and understand at certain grade levels. For 9th and 10th grade, most of the standards revolve around digital tools to help express reasoning, research, or present ideas. I am very comfortable working with things like Excel and Prezi as well as google sheets or slides for individual or group projects. Because I am going into the arts, having an eye for design or creativity will be important in my assignments and classroom. There were a lot of tools on this standards list that I have never heard of before so I will need to learn about them and see if there is a better tool for Theater projects.

In the CPALM website, I was very excited to see a Theater option for material in the 9-12th grade levels. One of the activities offered is theater games. After clicking on the link, they go into detail about how to play two specific games and why they are good tools for the classroom. It is interesting that they go into great detail about how these games are useful and what they will offer students in terms of a learning activity. I have used these games before, and I do agree that they are a great example of being useful and entertaining for this upper level of students.

While Word is not my favorite tool, I did acquire a sense of respect for those who can use it flawlessly and I understand now why it works well. I did not know how to make a break in the paper and add columns then go back to the original break. This is a very useful tool that I will use now in everything I do. Other than that, everything was pretty straight forward and I enjoyed this assignment very much. I don't think I will be doing a weekly newsletter for the high school level, but it did give me some ideas for parent information packets and first day of school packets.
